Yesterday we heard from the man himself that Ron Vlaar had not begun talking to any teams except Aston Villa. Even if it wasn't the most convincing statement we've read in a while, it allowed us all to breathe a sigh of relief. But, suck that air back in, because Aston Villa's other big star is starting to attract some notice.
The Mirror are reporting that Tottenham are considering a January swoop for the currently-injured Fabian Delph. The new-minted England international would be a big addition to any club, but would likely find himself immediately in Mauricio Pochettino's starting XI.
But, the rumour comes from the Mirror, so take it lightly. The Birmingham Mail claim that Aston Villa have no desire to see Delph go in January, even if a new deal hasn't been reached. And that makes sense. Injured now and without a long-term contract, Delph won't command a big fee, so Villa might as well hang onto him and get something on the pitch rather than in the books.
