Charlie Austin's early goal gave QPR a 1-0 lead at Loftus Road. Before the goal, Rangers had literally done nothing. Villa looked better in the first half, but had no success crossing the ball and the scoreless streak stretched to 486 minutes.
Finally ready for the Premier League apparently, Carlos Sánchez had a great first half. However, he made a very bad turnover in the second half that led to QPR's second goal.
Brad Guzan made a save with 15 minutes left that kept it 2-0, it was a good save to deny QPR from a one-on-one situation. He didn't have much of a chance on the first two goals.
All of Villa's forwards might as well have been absent. A missed chance in front of goal where Villa didn't score typified the match. Joe Cole and Darren Bent were subbed on, and neither was able to make much of an impact.
