Ron Vlaar missed for a bit, Philippe Senderos is currently out, Jores Okore is off in some dark netherworld, and now we can add Nathan Baker to the list of injured Villa defenders. Wheee! Baker, as you may remember, got taken off in the first half this weekend at Everton. It turns out the reason was, well, let me allow Paul Lambert to explain it:
"It's his hamstring. It looks pretty bad at the moment. We'll just have to see how it is."
Great. Just wonderful. So with a very winnable match against QPR coming up, we may very well be without Nathan Baker and Philippe Senderos. With Okore unfit for Premier League play, that means we will probably get to see Ciaran Clark, and suddenly a winnable match is looking a lot less so. Even with Vlaar, Ciaran Clark and Carlos Sanchez up the middle doesn't inspire confidence that goals will be stopped. And we've proven definitively that goals will not be scored very often.
I still really believe that, if healthy, this is actually a pretty good squad Paul Lambert has assembled. Unfortunately, I also believe that this squad will never approach anything nearing "healthy." The luck has to change some time soon, though, right? Right?
