The Birmingham Mail is reporting that Jack Grealish has, as expected, put pen to paper on a new four-year deal with Aston Villa. The 19-year-old winger is the club's most exciting prospect, and has impressed in his limited time on the pitch with Villa. But perhaps even better, it's a sign of an incredibly talented player choosing to stay at Villa of their own volition. Though it really shouldn't come as much of a surprise, since Grealish has been with the club since he was six years old.
The Irish player is the third big re-signing of the season after Alan Hutton and Gabby Agbonlahor agreed to new contracts last month. The new contract also means that Grealish has spurned the reported interest from clubs such as Chelsea and Manchester City. It still leaves Fabian Delph and Ron Vlaar as significant players whose deals expire this summer and who have yet to re-sign.
The best part of this all? How excited Grealish is to stay with the club:
"I'm delighted, it's a club I've grown up supporting so to stay here for another four years is a dream come true."
Thanks for sticking with us, Jack. Now get out there and prove to everyone we made the right choice.
