Liverpool vs. Aston Villa: Lineups and open match thread

Come join us as we hope and pray for a repeat of last year's 1-3 visit to Anfield!

Aston Villa head into Anfield today with a pretty healthy squad, and nevertheless Paul Lambert makes a few perplexing choices. Leandro Bacuna ahead of Matthew Lowton? Sure! Why not! The good news (?) is that we get to see the debut of Ryan Bertrand, who only joined the club yesterday. As we've discussed elsewhere, Bertrand is a definite improvement over Antonio Luna, so that should be an interesting development to watch. In less encouraging news, Daniel Sturridge is getting the start for Liverpool. What a way to welcome the new defender to the club: Sturridge and Suarez.

If Villa can get three point, I think we'll all be amazed, but it would relieve a bit of pressure on the club. A more realistic (but still optimistic goal) would be gunning for a draw. I certainly think Villa have that in them. You'll find the lineups below, and we hope you join us in the comments for the match!
