Aston Villa vs. Arsenal, lineups and open match thread

Aston Villa got their season off to an excellent start with a win over Arsenal; can they offer a repeat performance and turn their fortunes around? Probably not! But let's watch anyways.

Okay, so 2013 didn't end too well and 2014 hasn't started too well, either. But that's okay! There's still time to turn things around, beginning with Arsenal at Villa Park. A fixture which Villa haven't won since 1998. Ugh, let's just get to the lineups.

Looks like a 5-3-2 once again, but the good news is that Ron Vlaar will be starting, as will Nathan Baker, which isn't quite as exciting but is still a positive. Lowton and Luna will be providing the width in theory, but let's be honest; anything Villa get is coming over the top.

Aston Villa XI:

Brad Guzan; Matthew Lowton, Ron Vlaar, Ciaran Clark, Nathan Baker, Antonio Luna; Karim El Ahmadi, Ashley Westwood, Fabian Delph; Gabby Agbonlahor, Christian Benteke

Aston Villa bench:

Jed Steer, Yacouba Sylla, Leandro Bacuna, Aleksandar Tonev, Nicklas Helenius, Andreas Weimann, Marc Albrighton

Arsenal XI:

Wojciech Szczęsny; Bacaray Sagna, Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal; Jack Wilshire, Mathieu Flamini, Santi Cazorla, Mesut Özil, Serge Gnabry; Olivier Giroud

Arsenal bench:

Łukasz Fabiański, Carl Jenkinson, Kieran Gibbs, Tomáš Rosický, Lukas Podolski, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ju-Young Park
