Sure, Aston Villa lost Christian Benteke to injury on Saturday, but that doesn't mean that the match wasn't fun to watch. It may have been one of the more entertaining affairs Villa have played in a while, to be honest. Today, let's focus on three moments that are worth watching over and over.
Brad Guzan saves a penalty in the 6th minute
The ref, perhaps harshly, called a handball on Villa, and the automatic response was a penalty. Robert Snodgrass stepped to the spot for Norwich City, and promptly sent it... into the arms of Brad Guzan, who deflected the ball wide.
The save prevented Villa from going down early for seemingly their 45th consecutive match. Here's the save from another angle:
Libor Kozak (30')
I've said this elsewhere, but this wasn't the prettiest goal I've seen a Villan score in a while. Nevertheless, I loved it so so much, since it showed patience and a nice finishing touch (let's ignore the first attempt at finishing).
Here you've got another angle:
But as great as the goal was, the reaction from Norwich City keeper John Ruddy was even better:
And I'd be remiss if I didn't give you Paul Lambert's celebration:
Brad Guzan saves the match in the 90th minute
To cap off his phenomenal day, Brad Guzan managed to spoil Gary Hooper's Norwich City debut. Hooper got free in the box and seemed certain to equalize, robbing Villa of the three points. But then Guzan decided that he was tired of gravity and would be saving this shot no matter what:
But to really appreciate what Guzan did, you've got to see it from this angle:
Not a bad day for the American keeper. What was your favorite highlight of the day? Let us know in the comments!
