Aston Villa vs. Newcastle: Lineups and open match thread

Come join us, as we discuss whether Aston Villa is the world's greatest team or an absolute certainty for sheer doom.

Ian Walton

Well, the first three weeks went pretty okay. And now we're playing teams that aren't quite as good, and that's a positive thing, right? Well, possibly. Probably? We'll begin finding out today, I suppose. A win here and that's six points from four, three of which it would have been unrealistic to expect at the beginning of the season. A loss here and Aston Villa is clearly doomed, their relegation to the Championship a mere matter of formality, which Newcastle will coast along to the top four and become Tottenham, or something.

Or, in between. Whatever.

Aston Villa Starting XI: Guzan, Lowton, Okore, Vlaar, Luna; El Ahmadi, Westwood, Delph; Weimann, Benteke, Agbonlahor

Newcastle Starting XI: Krul; Debuchy, Coloccini (c), Yanga-Mbiwa, Santon; Anita, Sissoko, Cabaye; Remy, Cisse, Ben Arfa

Guess what guys, Libor Kozak isn't starting. Whoever thought that maybe Paul Lambert doesn't want to throw on a new signing after ten days of players being off on international duty?
