Fulham's Martin Jol is anticipating having news of his club's attempt to lure Darren Bent from Villa Park by the end of the week, according to a report in the Birmingham Mail. The logical conclusion is that Jol and Fulham are planning on submitting another bid to Aston Villa, likely in the £6 million range that Paul Lambert is seeking. The reemergence of Newcastle as a Bent suitor, coupled with the interest of Crystal Palace, has likely pushed Jol's plans forward a bit.
At this point I'm tired of worrying about where Darren Bent will go, to be honest. We all know he's not going to set foot on the pitch for Aston Villa this season, so let's stop dallying and get rid of him. The sooner we can get money - any money - for the erstwhile Villa Park favorite, the more quickly we can turn that money around and get Paul Lambert yet another shiny toy.
So hurry up, Fulham. I'd love to stop writing about this saga any day now.
