Christian Benteke coming back to Aston Villa after skipping out on part of the preseason tour. The Belgian center forward, instrumental in the successful fight to avoid relegation last season, has been trying to force a move and has already handed in a written transfer request, but according to Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur, he's already traveled back to Birmginham:
Surprise. Christian #Benteke travelled to Birmingham today. He'll join the squad tomorrow. No bid of #THFC has arrived. #AVFC

It's been widely reported that Villa were prepared to fine Benteke if he didn't return to the squad by this Thursday, so that he's back isn't much of a shock. What is more surprising is the news that Tottenham haven't yet made a bid -- this week in the wilderness would seem to have been the perfect time to pounce, if they were interested.
Obviously, this move doesn't mean that the Benteke saga is over, but it's distinctly positive news so far as Villa are concerned. They've triumphed in a minor skirmish here, so let's see if they manage to win the war.
