Aston Villa's new kit for the 2013-14 season officially launches on June 15th, but if you head on over to the official site you can get a little bit of a hint at how it might look. It's not much to go on to be sure, but it's the first real look we've had and some of the design elements are fairly clear. There haven't been any genuine leaks so far as I'm aware which is something of a surprise, so if you're as much of a geek about this kind of thing as I am you'll welcome any details--even if it's just a black-and-white photo from the neck up.
I'd say it's reasonable to assume that Benteke and Vlaar are both wearing the home, and it's equally reasonable to believe that it's claret. The collar is gone but the neckline is high, which is...interesting is the word I'll use for now. My guess would be that the piping on the neck is blue, but it could be yellow as well. Hopefully my initial assumption is correct. If Benteke and Vlaar are sporting the home then Weimann's in the away, and it looks to be two-toned. In general I despise two-toned shirts, but maybe this one will change that. I'm not holding my breath. At least the collar looks nice.
So, not a lot to be gleaned from this photo, but it's something. Any thoughts on our first (brief) look at the new kit? Share them in the comments.
