Aston Villa's 2013-14 kit revealed: quite a change from last year

New, comments

Aston Villa revealed their new kits for the 2013-14 season today.

As the culmination of their big #ComeTogether promotion, Aston Villa officially revealed their new home and away kits today. I have to say, I think I like them even if they're not what we've become used to. You can see them in all sorts of detail here. The home kit is a main claret panel with blue panels on the entire side (not just stripes like the checkerboard boxes were a couple of seasons ago), while the away kit eschews the typical claret for a maroon and white quartering. Of the two, I definitely prefer the home version. Brad Guzan, meanwhile, will look as if he plays for Borussia Dortmund in a black and yellow kit that's got a weird thing going on at the collar.

The club's merchandising folks described the new home kit as "keeping with tradition," while the away one is called "modern and vibrant." Remember, too, that the neon green kit from last year will remain as the team's third kit this year.

If you're the type of person who reads a lot into marketing, you'll notice that Christian Benteke is wearing the home kit in the main image, so have a field day with that.

Anyhow, what are your thoughts? Do you love the new kits? Hate them? Are you planning on buying one? Let us know in the comments!
