Aston Villa traveled to the DW Stadium to take on already-relegated Wigan in the last match of the season. It's been a long 38 matches for the claret and blue, but it was nice to know that, no matter what happened on the pitch, they'd be safe for next season. The not-always-well-played match saw an quick opener from Darren Bent, a lovely response from Emmerson Boyce, an unlucky own goal from Nathan Baker, and one of the top goals of the season from Ron Vlaar.
But the highlight for many was the away support. Somehow Aston Villa got permission to get into the Stadium before the match and put up hundreds of Stiliyan Petrov masks for the away supporters to show their support for the Villa captain with. The sight before the match was a bit creepy, but the end effect was pretty cool. Even better was seeing Petrov himself join the staff on the Villa bench.
