Shay given finally has a chance to play football again: He's joined Championship side Middlesbrough on a one-month loan. The 37 year old hasn't been seen between the sticks since last January, so he's certain to be pleased that he may get some time with Boro.
Apparently Middlesbrough, who are currently 19th and have just switched managers, were a bit desperate for a keeper to step in for this weekend's match against Bolton. Regular No. 1 Jason Steele is out for three games after receiving a red for "serious foul play" in the match against Leeds last time out. Neither Jayson Leutwiler nor Dimi Konstantopoulos were to be trusted, I suppose.
In other goalkeeper news, Benji Siegrist is off to gain some experience in League 2, with Burton Albion. By my count, that means just Jed Steer is left to man the Villa bench, so let's hope nothing happens to Brad Guzan. Although I'm pretty sure most of us say a prayer of protection for Godzan each night, anyway.
