Benteke injury doesn't look to be serious

It seems as though Christian Benteke just returned to action with Aston Villa, and already he may be out again, thanks to a knock picked up in Belgium's friendly against Colombia.

Christian Benteke came off injured in Thursday night's match, pitting Belgium against Colombia. The Aston Villa striker was pulled in the 75th minute for Mousa Dembele after he seemed to have taken a knock. The good news is that not many are talking about it the morning after, so it's likely Benteke coming off was simply a precautionary measure.

Thank goodness, because Aston Villa would have to declare war on Belgium if Benteke had been hurt in a friendly. However, the Villa faithful would probably win and thus have greater access to fantastic beer, so not all would be lost.

The Villa man was quite involved in the match, getting in a shot after just six minutes, but his header went narrowly wide. He did much the same shortly before the break, heading a Marouane Fellaini cross well high. After the break, Benteke very nearly opened the scoring for Belgium, sending in a sharp shot that had to be pushed over the crossbar.

In the end, though, Belgium regretted those missed chances, as Radamel Falcao and Víctor Ibarbo went on to score for Colombia. And Benteke's name was not brought up after the match, so it seems it's not necessary to panic about him being hurt once more.
