UPDATE: Villa Apparently Not Interested In Lescott Move

According to the BBC's Pat Murphy, Aston Villa are not going to make a move for Manchester City defender and most importantly lifelong Villa fanatic, Joleon Lescott. It was perceived by many close to the club that Lescott would be a perfect fit for Villa given his status as Manchester City, his boyhood connections to Villa, and of course the fact that Villa desperately need help. His potential cost and availability as a loaner and not a purchase are apparently a huge issue.

Based on what we've seen from manager Paul Lambert in the his short tenure bringing in someone of Lescott's ilk would seem out of character. It's not a coincidence that a lot of the players with hefty Premier League experience that already collect a paycheck from Randy Lerner have not seen as much playing time as others. All of Lambert's acquisitions thus far have been from lower leagues in England or top flight leagues from various European countries. I would look for that trend to continue.
