The BBC has confirmed that forward Nathan Delfouneso is headed to Blackpool and our old friend Ian Holloway for the rest of the season on a loan. I have seen Villa fans express a lot of frustration over Delfouneso's lack of progress when he manages to see the field. He hasn't been able to build on the promise he's shown as a reserve player and an England U-21 international and that's disappointing considering he's basically one of my favorite players.
This is most definitely a good thing though even though it may take a bite out of the forward depth that the club only just replenished over the last couple of days by adding Christian Benteke and Jordan Bowery. I would love to hear more about the forward depth at Blackpool and whether or not Fonz will be getting regular playing time or not. I would assume that the club wouldn't loan him out without the promise of first team football. Should that be the case, this will likely be Fonzie's last best chance to prove he can produce and make his case for next season. In the meantime, Paul Lambert and company appear set to roll on to January with Benteke, Bent, Andreas Weimann and hopefully soon fit Gabby Agbonlahor as their main options at forward.
Godspeed Nathan. Find your game.
