Aston Villa Linked With Ligue 1 Striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

While Aston Villa supporters watch other clubs get linked with familiar names -- Charlie Adam, Steven N'Zonzi, etc -- the Villa just keep getting the hook-up with players about whom very few of us are familiar. This time around, we're seeing the rumour that Paul Lambert and co. are chasing after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, currently with Ligue 1 side Saint-Étienne.

Fortunately for you, dear readers of 7500 to Holte, we do know a little something about this guy. He's young, like the other strikers the Villa have been chasing, but not too young -- 23 is a perfectly acceptable age for a forward with Ligue 1 experience, particularly one who's managing to score goals. He impressed greatly with the Ligue 1 side last season, even managing a hat-trick. Do you remember what a hat-trick not scored by the reserves feels like?

Aubameyang also managed to catch the eye of quite a few on the international level with Gabon. The squad made it to the quarter-finals of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, with the forward playing a major role.

Finally, he's big, strong, and -- get this -- good with the ball at his feet. Can we have him, please? Pretty please, Paul?
