Aston Villa Begin 2012-2013 Premier League Season Away At West Ham

Whoa guys, it's deja vu! Flashback to 2010-2011, when Martin O'Neill buggered off, leaving Kevin McDonald in temporary care of Aston Villa. The season began with a 3-0 win against West Ham and we all thought things were going to be just dandy. But then James Milner was sold and Gerard Houllier faced the wrath of bedsheets and we had to deal with the possibility of the scary R-word.

Flash ahead two years. Now we're traveling to West Ham, back in the Premiership after a year away. We've got a manager in place and his name is not Alex McLeish. Manchester City isn't lusting after any of our players. There's a possibility Alan Hutton might be shot from a cannon to the moon.

In other words, Aston Villa fans will finally have a reason to feel optimistic, after two years of being thisclose to drinking ourselves into apathetic comas. With a slight spring in our step, let's take a look at who we might face when:
