According to the ever-reliable and always ahead of the game Sky Sports, Leeds United want to bring Eric Lichaj back on loan next season -- provided, of course, that Aston Villa allow him to leave. Which clearly the Villa will want to do. They are certainly flush for defenders, and each and every member of the defense is known for staying perfectly healthy. Not once did a midfielder slot in at defense last season. Our back line? Perfect. In no need of reinforcement.
Right. I don't think anyone needs to go dry Aaron's tears at this moment. We all know we need to keep our youngsters around, particularly if Villa aren't going to bring in any more defenders. There's no point in sending Lichaj off on loan at the beginning of the season, having had no time, really, to consider how he'll slot in. And Leeds only want him if it will be a full year.
Curious, though, that Simon Grayson mentioned nothing about re-capturing the services of Barry Bannan. Was Bazza really that horrible at Leeds? Is he truly a sass, or worse? Or is it the knowledge that Alex McLeish will definitely want to keep his young Scot?
So what think you? Should we keep Lichaj around as cover? Should we let him try to earn a place in the first team? Or is it best to let him keep playing consistently with a Championship side?
