Stewart Downing Committed To Aston Villa, Despite Reports To The Contrary

Stewart Downing looks mildly disturbed at the fact that Andy Carroll can pick him up with one arm. Or perhaps he's repulsed by the fact that his hand is in Carroll's ponytail.

Stewart Downing has been one of Aston Villa's best players of the season, even if -- as with everyone else -- that play doesn't always translate into goals. His play has attracted the attention of Fabio Capello and he was instrumental in Andy Carroll's goal against Ghana, even earning man of the match for England. So obviously, Downing wants out of the Villa. At least, according to papers that should be used only to line the cages of very ill birds. We've all seen the rumors, many have even believed the rumors.

But according to Timothy Abraham, who just loves to use his Twitter account to tease to stories he hasn't yet written, Stewie is fully committed to the claret and blue:

It's easy to talk about Villa players wanting to leave the club right now. Villa is an easy target, with rumors of managerial dissatisfaction and of course the dreaded r-word hanging over everyone's heads. But if you were to believe everything you read about Villa right now, you'd likely never find the strength of will to get out of bed. So pop a grain of salt under your tongue before reading anything featuring the letters "AVFC".
