He's really rather cute...can Balotelli kick him in the abdomen again?

Something that always strikes fear into the heart of Aston Villa fans: the news that Shay Given has had to sit out a training session. Turns out our beloved goalkeeper had a bit of a stiff neck -- I wonder if he's experiencing a bit of residual pain from having crinked his neck while watching Anthony Pilkington's free kick sail by? Speaking of the Norwich City forward, the Republic of Ireland might want to consider giving him a run out, if only to have him on hand for set pieces. Ay dios mio.

Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni also had Richard Dunne sitting out Tuesday's training, but just for a minor injury. I imagine the minor injury is that Dunne is old and is working his rear off these days, and just needed a lie-down. The good news from Ireland is that Given, at least, is set to play on Friday for the Euro 2012 playoff match against Estonia. I'm fairly certain we'll see Dunne at the back as well -- Ireland need this too much to use any scrubs.

But if they cause a Given injury...
