Remember last season, when Marc Albrighton had to miss a match because he couldn't sleep? Well, Barry Bannan may have topped that weak excuse for missing a start with his reason for skipping out on duty with Scotland: he has a gash on his heel. That's right, the wee Scot will likely miss the final match of Euro qualification -- the one against Spain, the one that Scotland absolutely need three points in if they want to make the playoffs -- because he's got a nick on his foot.

To be fair to Bazza, it seems like it's a significant cut on his heel. It's in a "really awkward area," says Scotland coach Craig Levein, and apparently the doctors used some glue to hold it together. Glue, huh? Anyone else getting visions of Humpty Dumpty here? I know I made some slightly inappropriate comments about Liechtenstein not being a real country, but c'mon, Scotland, if you don't want the same treatment, you're going to need to pony up for some stitches or something.

And if Bannan doesn't get returned to Aston Villa all in one piece, well, we're invading your country and taking your whisky. You have been warned.
