Michael Bradley Officially Joins Aston Villa On Loan With Option To Buy

Well, we've got the latest news in a transfer day full of big headlines. Michael Bradley, star 23-year-old midfielder for the USMNT is officially a Villan after his loan from Germany's Borussia Monchengladbach was completed today. The confirmation comes from the OS.

In that story, Bradley states his desire to be a strong presence in the center of the midfield crew, and he has the potential to be a potent box-to-box player. Gérard Houllier also seems excited to bring the young American in, emphasizing that he has seen him play numerous times, including four matches at the 2010 World Cup.

We'll be writing a bit more about this move later tomorrow, when Aaron's transfer window recap goes up. Until then, I imagine this will likely finish anything Villa were going to do in the window. So let's hear your thoughts below. Happy to have Bradley around? Were Villa's moves enough to push us back into European contention?

(Aaron edit: The deal also contains an option for Villa to purchase Bradley at the end of the season, which to me makes a lot more sense than a temporary loan. Think of Bradley's performance the rest of the way as something of an audition.)
