In news fresh off of the official Aston Villa twitter feed, our new midfielder Jean Makoun has been cleared and given work permissions. The Cameroonian national player will be a possible starter for Tuesday's action against Wigan Athletic at DW Stadium. This is fantastic news, as Makoun wasn't anticipated to be ready quite so quickly. I don't know if he'll start on Tuesday, but I would be absolutely shocked if he didn't make it on the pitch at some point.

With Darren Bent and Makoun both in the fold now, I think we can all return to a more optimistic view of the claret and blue. The first half of the season has been absolutely rough, but things are looking up. Randy Lerner and Gérard Houllier have done a great deal of work in this window and have brought in some great players. The fact that we'll have them all together soon will be a fantastic boon.

Later today, be sure to check back and see what Kirsten, Aaron, Gareth and I think is possible for the rest of the transfer window. Do you think we'll have any more news that makes us as gleeful as these two signings?
