We've still got about 48 hours to go in before the transfer window slams shut, but Aston Villa have completed their first piece of deadline day action -- Joe Bennett has signed from Middlesbrough on a four-year deal. The club have confirmed that the signing of the 22-year-old left back is now official.
So what can we expect from Bennett at Aston Villa? On one hand, this really has to be the final nail in Stephen Warnock's long-prepared coffin. We've been hankering after a left back and snatching up one that can get forward with quality is certainly cause for applause.
On the other hand, Bennett is coming from the Championship and he's still young. Is he ready to be Villa's starter? If so, what does that mean for Nathan Baker? I think it'll be awhile before we see exactly what the plans of Paul Lambert are. Get him into training, see how he gels with the squad -- but he's definitely been signed with the idea that he will start. And likely soon.
