The problem is that, with finances being what they are at the moment, and with so much turnover in the last few years, Villa probably isn't going to be in the market for a new manager unless they manage to get themselves relegated.
Which means we shouldn't sell the idea of Villa hiring Villas Boas as much as we should sell Chelsea on the idea of hiring Alex McLeish.
So it's time to start the grass roots campaign. Take to the Twitters, the Facebooks, the Google pluseseses. Hell, hit up your old Friendster account. Do whatever it takes. Just go there and start pretending you hope Chelsea doesn't take McLeish away from us.
Talk about how much it would hurt Aston Villa to lose such a leader. A man with a clear plan to take Aston Villa to the top of the table, and the only man with the ability to see it through.
Maybe, just maybe, if we pretend we like him enough, Chelsea may actually think he's worth hiring.
Just don't throw in anything about being worried he'd take Emile Heskey with him. Chelsea may be impatient and a bit irrational, but they aren't that stupid. They'll see right through it.
