Make sure the glass is under the spout before liquid starts coming out, and you can't really count yourself as having won unless you stop pouring before the glass starts to overflow.

Draw the blinds. Turn off the TV or stereo. It's absolutely vital that you keep your eyes closed for the entirety of the nap. But the sleep isn't the whole of it; it's really just the beginning. That whole thing about keeping your eyes closed the entire time? Well, once you're awake that all goes straight out the window.

Getting the water right can be tricky, but err on the side of caution towards too cool; too hot can land you in a world of hurt. And don't be afraid to do the dirty work; it's not always pleasant, but it can make all the difference in the world in terms of the outcome.
