Nathan Delfouneso Loaned To Burnley So Other Fans Will Learn To Spell His Name

Strangely enough, I have no photos available of Nathan Delfouneso wearing claret.

Another day, another loan, although I'm still dealing with a Barry Bannan based headache from yesterday so I can't quite get as incised about this one. However, if Slaky would like to join Aaron's and mine's support group, we can expand it to include people watching Burnley. Yep, Nathan Delfouneso is off to join the Clarets, where at least he won't be confused by the colors of the kits.

Truthfully, though, I like this loan. With the number of strikers ahead of Fonz in the pecking order, he needs a chance to go out and show us what we can do. Delfouneso has been thrilling at times, but at other times prone to big mistakes -- often within minutes. It's the inconsistency of youth, and before you tell me I'm being inconsistent myself for feeling differently about Baz, well, I think Baz is much further along in his development.

But no matter, they're off. Leeds is in sixth place in the Championship, Burnley in seventh. These are teams competing for the playoff positions, for the chance to move up to the EPL. They're clubs desperate for someone to help them find the Holy Grail. Leeds supporters were ecstatic to hear that Bannan is joining their side. In short, these moves will help Baz and Fonz grow much more than sitting on the bench or even playing in the Villa reserves.

Now that I've calmed down and the scotch has worn off, reality has sunk in. This season is about staying up, as much as we hate to admit it. Then we're likely to have a fire sale in the summer, meaning that there will be plenty of space for these youngsters to step into. Emile Heskey off? Stiliyan Petrov and Nigel Reo-Coker gone? If Bannan and Delfouneso are part of a Championship side that makes it to the playoffs and then the Premier League, they've got to get time at Villa Park next season.
